Loqate Technology Team - At Loqate our mission is to help every business in the world reach every customer in the world. Within the Loqate Product Engineering Team, we achieve this by providing location capture, address verification, geocoding, and data enrichment solutions to allow businesses to find, validate and know everything there is to know about a specific location. The Role:

You will be the Lead Engineer in one of our multi-disciplinary product squads. If you've ever purchased something online, you have probably used one of our largest products, Capture, without realizing - thousands of our customers trust it to deliver a best-in-class address lookup service at the heart of their checkout experience. Across our customer-base, it receives thousands of address lookup requests every second, quickly and accurately finding addresses from all over the world within milliseconds. The role is ideal for a tech enthusiast who's driven and interested in performance, scale, and big data. This is an exciting and impactful role that provides the opportunity to heavily influence the technical growth of our team and products at Loqate. You will bring your passion for technology, experience of developing great software, and constant desire to improve. There is no line management responsibility with this role - we believe that to technically lead, you need capacity to focus on technical challenges and as such we have pulled line management out into a separate role. What you will do:

At Loqate we're constantly learning, and we're not afraid to change in order to adapt to the ever-shifting environment around us. Here's what your day-to-day work might look like, but this will change as you, your role and our business all develop. Take ownership of the technical design, delivery, and documentation of the product as we scale to support millions of transactions per day. This role has a mix of both hands-on development as well as lead/architecture work. Raise the bar for technical standards, performance, reliability, and operational excellence. Mentor and coach others to help them be the best they can be. Care about agility as much you care for scalability and availability. Continuous deployment keeps us focused on incremental releases. Take responsibility for platform health and observability, using our own data to understand user behaviour and drive product development. Requirements:

What we're looking for:

The core qualities that will help you thrive in this role are: A strong foundation in software engineering principles and deep knowledge of a high-level programming language. C# and Go are used heavily in this product. Experience working with distributed cloud systems, particularly involving containers. We run on Kubernetes in GCP. Strong knowledge of NoSQL database technologies (e.g. MongoDB, Elastic). Experience designing algorithmic software for scale, performance, and high availability. Previous experience of being the primary technical leader in a team, including collaboration with other teams and stakeholders. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to adapt your style to different audiences. A passion for promoting engineering excellence in those around you through coaching and guiding individuals, and the team as a whole, to influence change. In return we offer:

The opportunity to work with a fantastic team. Flexible and hybrid working patterns. UK offices in Chester and London providing collaborative and welcoming environments, plus offices worldwide. A vibrant company culture. A competitive company benefit scheme. Behaviours we'd like to see:
