About the Role

The Insolvency Service is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Digital Services Team within the Change and Technology Services directorate. This team is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting the agency’s key business applications.

Key Responsibilities

Lead development of digital services using C#, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and the Azure stack (Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, AI Search, Azure App Services, Function Apps).

Work in a multi-disciplinary agile team, collaborating with stakeholders.

Provide technical support and mentorship to engineers.

Ensure interoperability, efficiency, and sustainability of digital products.

Promote modern development practices (BDD, TDD, CI/CD, DevOps).

Advocate for user-centric, agile delivery. Maintain high-security standards, with knowledge of OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities.

Person Specification

Proven ability to lead complex software projects in an agile environment.

Expertise in C#, JavaScript, Azure, and experience with IaaS and PaaS solutions.

Strong documentation, architectural decision-making, and mentorship skills.

Knowledge of modern development workflows (GitHub, clean architecture, OOP, SOLID, RESTful APIs).
