Band 8A Lead post

on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands. The SLT team comprises a Band 8A Clinical Lead, a Band 7 Specialist post (who will deputise), a Band 6 SLT, and a Band 3 Assistant. You will be responsible for the management of the island-wide Adult Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Service in both the Acute Hospital and Community. Your duties will include: Providing management, leadership, direction, supervision, professional consultation, guidance, and advice to staff working within this service. Leading, planning, developing, and delivering a high-quality SLT Service that is well integrated with other professional services and reflects local need. Ensuring appropriate financial control. Promoting governance and best practice principles in the delivery of SLT Service. The Adult SLT Service is small, and while sufficient time will be allocated to management duties, you will also manage a caseload of patients with complex and highly complex needs. A full job description is available upon application. Please note: Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system but has applied their own salary scale. The current Band 8A salary range is £70,723 to £86,357 plus an annual bonus of £1,605. Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days with full credit for NHS service for annual leave and sick leave. The island of Guernsey is in the Channel Islands and has a population of 65,000. The States of Guernsey provides an excellent Speech & Language Therapy Service, supported by modern equipment and reliant on healthcare professionals recruited to a high standard. Person requirements: Speech & Language Therapist with full HCPC registration and membership with the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists. Five years post-registration experience with current or recent experience at Band 7 or equivalent level. Motivated, demonstrating a positive attitude and enthusiasm with excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and work under pressure. Proven leadership skills and experience of managing teams. A postgraduate dysphagia training qualification. The benefits of working in Guernsey include: A higher-than-UK salary.
