Lead Systems Engineer (12-month Contract)

The successful candidate will be required to perform a range of Systems Engineering and Programme management activities in support of the modelling and mission simulation of a new satellite for a leading Space & Defence business based in Stevenage.

Roles and Responsibilities: Lead System Engineering in direct support to Chief Engineer with co-ordination over several topics and related activities of several other supporting engineers from system and other disciplines. Requirements & Verification lead (control of data in DOORS requirements database, import/export), including: Consolidation of specification tree content with focus on optical payload requirements specification (including technical ownership, review and consolidation, and use of DOORS requirements database tool). Consolidation and elaboration of design, development, and verification planning - logic, schedule, detailed documentation, DOORS content detailing for requirement verification planning attribute. Support to Performance & System Analysis lead development/maintenance/update of physics and maths-oriented analysis in Matlab and Python scripts, excel workbooks etc., ensuring team level co-ordination and consistency on the right inputs at the right time. Engineering interface control (platform to payload, space to ground, mission interfaces and relationships to all segments). Mission and CONOPS/OPSCON support (including co-ordination with MBSE performance model lead and End-to-End simulator lead). Documentation generation including peer review of other's documentation. Supplier datapack technical review. Immediate focus on system PDR preparation, datapack, review findings actions, then Advance Phase C and Phase CD preparation.

Essential skills and experience: Degree or equivalent in Mechanical / Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science or similar, or demonstrable relevant experience in lieu thereof. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and propose innovative solutions. Awareness of MBSE tools and methodologies. DOORS. Familiarity with Python and Matlab. MS Office. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
