This post is subject to a probationary period of 6 months, upon successful completion of which will become permanent. Some unsocial hours may be required to include occasional evenings and weekends as required, e.g. to assist at parents’ evenings and College open day events. A full DBS Certificate via the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required for this post. Key Duties

Provide Individual and Group Support: Offer tailored wellbeing and pastoral support for students, facilitating their personal development, behaviour, and academic progress. Help them navigate emotional and social challenges. Monitor and Support Wellbeing: Support the wellbeing of students by monitoring attendance and engagement. Work closely with tutors, mentors, and other College staff to implement wellbeing interventions where needed. Student Development: Deliver wellbeing and personal development sessions as part of the tutorial framework, focusing on resilience, emotional intelligence, mental health, and social skills. Collaborate with Internal and External Support Services: Work alongside Student Services, counselling, and safeguarding teams to refer students to appropriate services when additional support is needed. Safeguarding and Pastoral Care: Support students facing challenges that may hinder their progress, and ensure compliance with safeguarding policies, addressing disclosures appropriately. Promote a Positive Environment: Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes respect, inclusivity, and wellbeing. Implement strategies to reduce barriers to learning and promote positive behaviour. Deliver Wellbeing Workshops: Plan and deliver a range of workshops focusing on mental health, stress management, healthy lifestyles, employability, and financial wellbeing. Support in Transition and Progression: Assist students with their transition into College life and progression into further education or employment, offering advice on next steps, personal statements, and applications. Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely records of student interactions, wellbeing concerns, and interventions. Ensure all documentation related to student welfare, risk assessments, and safeguarding is up to date. Support College Events: Contribute to open days, recruitment events, and other College activities that promote student wellbeing and engagement. Engage in Continuous Professional Development: Keep up to date with best practices in mental health and wellbeing in educational settings and participate in relevant training and development opportunities. Any other duties commensurate with grade and status as may reasonably be requested. Person Specific

The person we are hoping to appoint will meet all the following essential requirements and some or all of the desirable requirements. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

Level 3 qualification in a relevant field Skills:

Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills; strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records. Experience:

Experience of working with young people or vulnerable adults, especially in a pastoral or advisory capacity. IT Skills:

Competent in the use of Microsoft Office and online video platforms such as Microsoft Teams Commitment:

A genuine interest in student wellbeing, and the ability to work flexibly and on your own initiative. Driving Licence:

A current driving licence and access to a car. Safeguarding:

An understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults. DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

Level 5 qualification or equivalent in a related field (e.g., counselling, social care). Experience:

Previous experience in a wellbeing or mental health support role within an educational setting. Teaching or Training Experience:

A qualification in teaching, training, or assessing, and experience in the FE sector.
