About Us:

We are a vibrant and inclusive Special Educational Needs (SEN) primary school in Birmingham, dedicated to providing high-quality education and support to children with a range of learning difficulties and additional needs. Our mission is to foster an environment where every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their full potential. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Practitioner to join our team and help us make a real difference to the lives of our students.

Job Description:

As a Learning Support Practitioner (LSP), you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN. Your role will involve delivering tailored interventions, promoting independent learning, and helping students develop social, emotional, and academic skills. You will also assist in the planning and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and help create an inclusive, engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual or small group support to students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Assist in the delivery of tailored lessons and interventions, ensuring that students are fully engaged and challenged according to their abilities.
  • Support students in developing social and emotional skills, encouraging positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of IEPs, ensuring that progress is closely monitored.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals to plan, evaluate, and adapt learning strategies.
  • Promote an inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.
  • Help with the development of communication skills and support students with any specific needs such as speech and language, sensory processing, or motor skills.
  • Assist with classroom management and ensure a safe, welcoming, and positive learning environment.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, ideally within a primary school setting (experience with autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties is a plus).
  • A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to supporting children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of children with additional needs.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant, Level 2/3 SEN qualifications, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.

What We Offer:

  • A supportive, welcoming, and friendly team of colleagues.
  • Opportunities for professional development and training.
  • A chance to make a real difference to the lives of children with SEN.
  • A rewarding and fulfilling career in an inclusive school environment.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
