Fixed Term until 12th July 2025 21.6 hours per week (0.6 FTE) The Commercial Industries and Access School at Kingston College is seeking a Lecturer - Hairdressing & Barbering Specialism to teach courses across a range of levels and act as a personal tutor in this curriculum area. The courses are predominantly coursework-based; therefore, we seek an innovative practitioner to design engaging coursework assignments that inspire learners. Following our agreed schemes of work, assessment schedules, and student monitoring procedures are essential components of this role. You will also be involved in internal verification activities and organize and participate in external verification. We would like you to hold a Level 3/4 qualification in hairdressing and barbering and have demonstrable recent hairdressing/barbering industrial experience. You should hold a teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards one), have awareness of academic quality standards, and be able to support, motivate, and empathize with young learners, including monitoring their progress. Ideally, you will hold an Internal Verifiers qualification (or be willing to work towards it) and possess energy, enthusiasm, and passion for the subject and education. You should be hardworking and flexible with high personal standards and expectations, along with good planning, preparation, organizational, and administrative skills, and strong attention to detail. You must be able to work well under pressure to agreed deadlines, work effectively as an individual and as part of a team to achieve targets, and utilize new technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
