SEN PMLD Lecturer - Uxbridge

We are currently recruiting for a specialist SEN Lecturer to work with pupils who have PMLD. This specialist college caters to young people between the ages of 16 and 19 who experience profound learning difficulties and complex needs. The college is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and compassionate teacher to join their hardworking SEN team. Required skills: Previous experience of working within SEN (ideally within complex needs, PMLD/ASD) Post 16 Teaching experience Experience with PECs or MAKATON Commitment to the development of both yourself and the pupils in your class Ability to deliver outstanding teaching and learning alongside a multi-disciplinary classroom team Understanding and commitment to safeguarding children QTLS or PGCE or further education qualification You will plan differentiated work to meet the needs of individuals and groups, promoting progression, continuity, and quality of learning by having clear intentions for our students' learning. You should be able to accurately assess need, deliver teaching reflective of need, and measure progress with a determination to positively impact on the lives of our pupils. Lessons are carefully planned and take into account the needs, interests, and abilities of all students so that learning is more purposeful and engaging. Responsibilities include: Implementing College policies and schemes of work according to the individual needs of students, having high expectations and setting challenging targets Organising personalised learning activities and experiences which are differentiated to meet the individual needs and levels of achievement of each pupil Ensuring teaching programmes are supported by clear aims and objectives with appropriate links to recognised specialist approaches used within school including TEACCH, PECS, SCERTS, Attention Autism, Intensive Interaction, and sensory regulation as appropriate Managing and promoting the use of Literacy, Numeracy, and ICT within your subjects Promoting the inclusion of all students within the classroom Marking work and providing feedback to students and parents in line with school policy and practice Contributing to the preparation and development of programmes of study, schemes of work, teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment, and pastoral arrangements throughout the school, including school trips, assemblies, performances, and special events Planning, tracking, evaluating, assessing, and reporting the teaching and learning of pupils, including completing Onward and Upward and/or BSquared, devising and updating Personalised Learning Plans on a termly basis and preparing annual reports in accordance with the school's practices and policies The college offers a committed and enthusiastic staff and governors, quality professional development, and an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the college and to set the culture for achievement and progress for all of our pupils in a purposeful, happy, and supportive environment with learning for all at its centre.
