We are investing in our academic provision and are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Digital Journalism to join our team of experienced academic staff. We are looking for an inspiring and enthusiastic academic to make a key contribution to our academic provision through teaching, research, and enterprise. In particular, you will be able to teach and contribute to our research and enterprise portfolio in Digital Journalism. The successful candidate will possess a PhD in an appropriate subject, will be expected to contribute to research and enterprise activity in the field, and will develop and deliver teaching and learning material at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will join the computing academic team based at our Headingley Campus and contribute to the delivery of our growing undergraduate and postgraduate provision. De Montfort University is seeking a fractional (up to 0.6) Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Digital Journalism to join its long-established journalism teaching team. The successful applicant will currently be working, or have very recent experience of working, in a digital-first newsroom, fully conversant with telling stories in different ways, using social media to source and promote digital content, data journalism, and web analytics, as well as the use of video and audio. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the University’s MA in Investigative Journalism, working with Channel 4, as well as the undergraduate programmes, such as the NCTJ-accredited Single Honours Journalism and the soon-to-be-launched Broadcast Journalism degree. A research background in digital journalism – or a desire to develop a research profile – is also essential. This is an opportunity to be based in the Leicester Media School, a dynamic and supportive environment.
