Legal Counsel – Defence

Job Description Providing in depth, professional, timely and pro-active legal support and advice to all functions within the business. Ensuring that the business is consistently compliant with applicable legal and business policy requirements including health and safety, procurement law, product safety, compliance, export control and ethical business conduct, working collaboratively with colleagues in other specialties and functions including Finance, Tax, Supply Chain and Commercial. Drafting, negotiating, agreeing and managing a wide range of contractual arrangements with customers, suppliers and industry partners. Participating from an early stage in disputes and assisting in developing appropriate strategies for their effective resolution. Providing training on matters of law and policy to various functional and business areas. Contributing to the wider legal function as a member of the global legal community and leveraging/sharing knowledge and capability accordingly, including engaging in effective collaboration across the function and business. The Successful Applicant Essential: Qualified solicitor or barrister with the ability to demonstrate a suitable level of post qualification experience within a commercial or corporate environment at a leading law firm and/or in-house. Ability to provide expert, pragmatic, commercial legal advice. Knowledgeably, thoroughly but succinctly drafts standard legal documents in plain English. Applies subject matter knowledge to commercial and business problems and issues. Understands and delivers solutions to support the strategy of the business and its priorities. Desirable: Commercial understanding of government contracting processes. Some knowledge of competition law, intellectual property and software licensing would be advantageous. What's on Offer An estimated salary range of £70,000 to £75,000. Cash Car Allowance - £6120. 12.5% Discretionary Bonus per annum. Opportunities for professional development and growth.
