A fantastic opportunity to join a premium retail brand in a newly created Legal Counsel role. This role will be responsible for covering commercial and operational activities for all European markets, supporting them in their ongoing expansion. Our client’s office is based in Central London with a hybrid work arrangement. There may be some travel required to Europe on an as needs basis. This will be a stand-alone role which will require someone who can comfortably work autonomously and be a self-starter. Reporting into the General Manager for EMEA,

key responsibilities

will include: Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of commercial and legal agreements such as T&C, sale and supply, marketing, advertising, and distribution agreements. Providing advice on various subject matters including employment law, store operations issues, consumer protection laws and advertising codes, and competition/antitrust law. Establishing and implementing legal procedures and guidelines; mitigating legal risks. Managing select litigation and disputes, working with outside counsel where necessary. Providing support to ensure continued compliance with applicable regulations such as GDPR, environmental and sustainability compliance. Supporting the business in expanding into new markets. The ideal candidate will have the following

skills and attributes : Qualified lawyer either in the UK or other jurisdiction with at least 5 years’ PQE gained in private practice or within an in-house environment (however all candidates will be considered on merit). Prior experience in the Retail, E-Commerce or Consumer industries will be favourable. Experience leading on a variety of commercial legal matters, ideally with experience working closely with commercial and retail functions. Strong analytical and technical drafting abilities with a keen attention to detail. Ability to demonstrate a positive commercial and solutions-focused approach in dealing with a variety of legal issues. Strong communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business. Good intercultural awareness and sensitivity.
