Travelex Foreign Coin Services Limited London, United Kingdom Travelex Job Description

Role:

Legal Counsel

Location: London

Reporting to: Head of Legal

Overview:

An opportunity has arisen for a junior-mid level lawyer who enjoys working collaboratively as part of a strong team. The role is to support the existing UK Legal Team on a six-month fixed term basis with the possibility of a further three month extension.

We are looking for a commercially orientated junior-mid level lawyer, ideally with experience in some or all of the following: general commercial contracts including outsourcing services, SaaS services, real estate leases, licences and retail space concession agreements, IT/IP, and data protection. Reporting to the Head of Legal, this role will operate at all levels of the business and you will be expected to hit the ground running, making an immediate commercial impact.

About Travelex:

To remain the world's leading foreign exchange specialist, we are focused on making our customers' lives simpler, more engaging and hassle free while they travel or move money abroad. We promise to give them the freedom and peace of mind to explore the world, their way - enabling them to travel confidently because they know they have us to lean on.

Customer centricity and digital are at the heart of our business strategy. Our commitment to innovation has never been greater, with the development of a number of digital-first, greenfield products and services. And with the Travelex's resources, deep industry experience and leading brand we are inventing the future of FX, cross-border e-commerce and international payments.

Travelex Legal:

The Travelex Legal & Co Sec team numbers 30 globally, 14 of whom are based in London; with others based in Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, Sao Paulo and Mumbai. The legal team in London supports both Travelex's consumer retail (B2C store/online) and partner (B2B wholesale and outsourcing) businesses in the UK, as well as its Group Services function. Historically, the business has also experienced a lot of corporate/transactional work and restructuring.

Responsibilities will include:

Supporting the review and negotiation of a range of material commercial customer contracts including customer outsourcing agreements (e.g. where Travelex provides foreign exchange services that are 'white-labelled', on behalf of the customer), and real estate leases, licences and concession agreements for our stores. Assisting our wholesale banknotes business with the negotiation of customer and banknote supply agreements, leveraging our bank of precedents. Reviewing, drafting and negotiating supply agreements, including agreements for SaaS solutions and software licencing, cash in transit providers, and generally supporting the Procurement Team and supplier onboarding process at Travelex. General in-house lawyer functions, including dispute resolution, IP, IT, some competition law, partner and customer communications and data protection issues. Keeping abreast of legislative developments and their potential impact on the business. Managing and contributing to team precedents, know-how and development.

Candidate competencies:

A commercial and business focused approach to work is essential here, and you have to be comfortable supporting the negotiation of commercial points, not just the legal ones. Qualified UK lawyer, 3+ years PQE with strong cooperative skills who enjoys working closely within a team. From a major law firm or current in-house role - previous in-house or client secondment experience desirable but not required. Experience in a broad range of commercial contract work, including retail agreements/concessions, supply, outsourcing, agency, information technology/online retailing. A self-motivated, hard worker with the ability to manage a varied and high volume workload and who can be relied upon to meet deadlines. A highly effective communicator, you will be able to:

explain complex legal concepts to all levels of the business, including senior management; have an inquisitive, proactive and assertive approach; and communicate in an honest and engaging style to leave a positive impression.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. #J-18808-Ljbffr
