Level 3 Qualified Early Years Practitioner Location: 24 Wainman Road, Peterborough, PE2 7BU, United Kingdom

Hours: 40 hrs per week, which can be worked over 4 or 5 days.

Main Purpose of the Position The Early Years Educator is a key member of the early years’ team and is responsible for delivering high-quality care and learning opportunities for children based on their needs and interests. Your role is to offer children and families a safe, secure, caring, and supportive environment and work in line with Apricot Nursery Group’s policies, procedures, and ethos.

Supervisory Responsibility This role does not directly supervise other employees.

Promote positive relationships in the early years’ setting.

Promote the health, safety, and well-being of the children.

Support the children’s development, learning, and play.

Support children and families by building relationships.

Contribute to the effectiveness of teamwork.

Be a role model and showcase high-quality practice with regards to individual and group work with children.

Take responsibility alongside the Nursery Management Team for the safety, security, and well-being of all children, staff, and visitors at all times.

Ensure that safeguarding procedures are followed in line with Local Authority and Company procedures.

Embrace, understand, and promote Hamilton Nurseries ethos and understand the role you play as part of the team to provide high levels of care and education.

Performance Requirements

Reinforce nursery policies and procedures at all times and deal with any breaches swiftly and appropriately.

Advocate to promote our company ethos both within the nursery and on a wider scale.

Promote equality and diversity within the nursery, challenging any behaviour that does not support our Inclusive Practice and Equal Opportunities Policy.

Be part of a team that provides a purposeful, stimulating environment rich in learning opportunities, both indoors and outdoors.

Support the nursery’s commitment to safeguarding children by following the Company’s Safeguarding Children Policy & Procedures.

Be flexible within the working practice of the nursery and be prepared to help where needed, including undertaking domestic jobs within the nursery.

Respond appropriately to issues regarding confidentiality.

Work well as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of the nursery.

Support the Nursery Manager/Deputy to ensure a good or better Ofsted inspection outcome.

Attend staff meetings and training sessions necessary for continuing professional development.

Participate in all self-development activities including appraisals and supervisions.

Maintain staff ratios in accordance with statutory regulations.

Care and Education

Reflect on daily practice and identify areas for continual improvement.

Ensure that all children are treated as individuals and that we are supporting this through our approach to planning in line with the EYFS.

Work in partnership to ensure standards are continuously met in line with Ofsted requirements and the EYFS.

Raise any identified development needs with the Management Team.

Support all staff in ensuring that settling-in and transitions are well managed for all children.

Ensure effective communication with staff and families through participation in staff meetings and parent’s evenings.

Deal with any parent/carer issues or concerns in a timely manner.

Support the planning and implementation of activities with individuals or groups of children.

Follow the guidance and requirements as set out in the EYFS.

Use professional knowledge of the individual and diverse ways that children learn and develop to meet their differing needs.

Promote the inclusion of all children.

Meet the physical needs of children by encouraging good standards of personal hygiene.

Provide support for children’s emotional and social needs.

Participate and support staff with recording children's development.

Have a child-centred approach to the running of the nursery.

Observe and plan appropriately for the children.

Work alongside the Management Team to be responsible for Health & Safety Policies and Procedures at nursery.

Support the Management Team to ensure all paperwork is completed correctly.

Check premises daily and remove or action any potential hazards.

Ensure the health & safety of all staff, children, and visitors.

Raise any maintenance concerns to the Nursery Manager in due course.

Work with your room team to develop an enabling environment that is child-led.

Ensure that you have a working knowledge of all aspects of Health & Safety.

Promote good hygiene practices in the nursery.

Sustainability

Support business decisions made by the Management Team to ensure sustainability is maintained.

Work in partnership with the Management Team to ensure that the nursery is effectively marketed.

Offer excellent levels of customer service to all visitors.

Work in partnership with parents and carers to provide objective and accurate feedback.

Work in partnership with other professionals to support the child’s learning and next steps.

Attend parent’s evenings and meetings as required.

General

Abide by the Apricot Nursery Group’s Policies and Procedures at all times.

Act as a representative of your nursery and the Company.

Have awareness of any legislation relating to your role.

Show a willingness to undertake additional roles to meet the needs of the nursery.

Keep your job knowledge up to date through in-house and external training.
