Given the nature of this role, working with our collection, it is expected that most work will take place on-site. About London Transport Museum (LTM) Based in Covent Garden, we are the world’s leading museum of urban transport and an award-winning day out. We are passionate about reaching every primary school in the capital to inspire the imaginations of tomorrow’s engineers, designers, scientists, and arts enthusiasts. We tackle important topics for London, from smart cities to green innovation, and aim to close skills gaps and create opportunities for under-represented and disadvantaged communities. Overview of role Can you help us uncover hidden resources in our collection and make them discoverable to the wider public? Do you enjoy bringing order and care to a library collection? As Librarian (Collections project), you will work with a small team to assess and catalogue unrecorded material held at our Library store. Our Library store, based at the Museum Depot at Acton, houses over 320,000 items from across the Museum’s wider collection. With plans being developed for a new Library space, we hope you can help us review the material we already hold. This role provides an opportunity to work with special collections, including a range of material types dating from the 19th century onwards. You will bring your knowledge of collection management and library cataloguing to help develop and accurately describe our collection. Highly organised and self-motivated, you will also work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a team.
