Library Program Coordinator, Norfolk Public Library (Norfolk)

The Programming Coordinator is responsible for developing, facilitating and evaluating programs for patrons of all ages at the Norfolk Public Library. This position reports to the Director. Essential Functions · Works with staff to develop, implement and facilitate programming. · Schedules and leads several regularly occurring and special programs each month, including obtaining and preparing all necessary materials. · Researches, makes contact, and negotiates with potential program presenters and vendors. · Inputs all programming information into the library’s online calendar and website, as well as coordinates with staff to ensure all programs are publicized effectively. · Provides friendly and proactive customer service to patrons. · Assists with applying for and implementing grants. · Responsible for marketing programs and services, which involves the utilization of social media, newsletters, and other forms of community outreach. · Maintains a programming budget, keeping a record of all expenditures, including contracts, invoices and receipts. · Facilitates the set up and cleanup of the program space, as well as introduces and provides support to presenters and vendors. · Other duties as assigned. Schedule This is a 37.5 hours per week full-time, benefitted position that will require some evening and weekend work as determined by the programming schedule and the Saturday work rotation. Qualifications

For appointment, a MLIS Degree from an ALA accredited institution is required. Applicants graduating with their MLIS degree within six (6) months of the start date and applicable previous library experience will be considered. Full/Part Time
