Sharper Consulting Services are seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensing Officer to join a busy local authority in London on a short-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with licensing laws, conducting enforcement actions, and managing a diverse caseload of licensing applications and investigations.
Contract Length:
6-12 months Rate:
£38 - £45 per hour (Umbrella) Key Responsibilities: Review and process licensing applications, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, including the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2005. Investigate complaints and breaches of licensing conditions, taking appropriate enforcement actions where necessary. Provide advice and guidance to businesses, license holders, and members of the public regarding licensing requirements. Prepare and present evidence for hearings, court cases, and appeals. Conduct site visits and inspections to assess compliance and identify any potential issues. Collaborate with other enforcement agencies and departments to deliver effective licensing services. Essential Requirements: Proven experience as a Licensing Officer or in a similar enforcement role within a local authority. Comprehensive knowledge of licensing laws and enforcement processes. Ability to manage a busy caseload effectively, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Experience in preparing reports and presenting evidence at hearings or court proceedings. Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (desirable).
