January 2025 A vibrant secondary school in Tameside is seeking a passionate Literacy Intervention Specialist to help students improve their reading and writing skills. This role is essential for students who may struggle with literacy, supporting them through targeted interventions that promote both academic progress and confidence. As a Literacy Intervention Specialist, you’ll work with individuals and small groups, helping them to overcome challenges, improve comprehension, and develop critical thinking. Responsibilities: Targeted Instruction:

Design and implement tailored intervention plans focusing on reading comprehension, vocabulary expansion, and writing skills, aligning with each student’s unique needs. Progress Monitoring:

Regularly assess students’ reading and writing abilities, tracking progress over time, and adjusting strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement. Collaborative Planning:

Work closely with English teachers and the SEND team to identify students who would benefit from additional literacy support and integrate lessons that complement classroom learning. Resource Development:

Create and adapt materials, including reading exercises and writing prompts, to suit a range of reading levels and encourage engagement with the material. Parental Communication:

Keep parents informed of student progress, sharing strategies that can support literacy development at home. Ideal Candidate: We’re looking for a candidate with a strong background in literacy or English education, ideally with experience in intervention or tutoring.
