Leeds Description As a Litigation Paralegal you will play a vital role within our Recoveries department by assisting in the management and progression of possession claims through the County Court. You will ensure that clients, represented by Flint Bishop, receive pro-active, consistent, and efficient levels of service. The role is full time, Monday to Friday 37.5 hour per week at our office in Leeds. Reporting to the Litigation Team Manager and overall reporting to the Director of Operations, Collections & Recoveries. Key Responsibilities Handling own caseload of files from initial instruction through to completion of each sale and/or closure of our file, under the supervision of the Team Manager. Undertake certain elements of fee earning work under supervision. In particular: Matter creation on Casenet; Obtaining and processing Official Copy documents and title deeds; Reviewing property titles, identifying any issues that may delay a sale or have an adverse effect upon the sale price, and reporting these to our client (or their key suppliers) together with your commercially focussed recommendation on how to address each issue. To liaise with other parties with an interest in each property (such as freeholders, management companies, housing associations), keep them suitably informed as to the progress of each sale, and ensure that any items required of them are received in good time so as not to delay a sale. To issue contracts for sale and supporting documents to purchasers or their solicitors and liaise with them, addressing their enquiries, and maintaining suitable pressure to achieve the earliest possible exchange of contracts. To effect appropriate checks with clients (or their key suppliers), to ensure that contracts are exchanged at the best possible sale price. To distribute sale proceeds in accordance with the requirements of both our client and the Law of Property Act 1925. To ensure that our invoice for services are deducted from the sale proceeds if a sale completes, or presented to the appropriate person if a matter is to be closed prior to a sale. Dealing with incoming telephone calls and correspondence from clients, advocates, asset managers, borrowers and other parties; Making outbound telephone calls to clients, advocates, asset managers, borrowers and other parties. Working to clients agreed or departmental levels of service (service standards). Deal wherever possible with routine enquiries and communications from our client (or their key suppliers), ensuring that they are suitably updated on the progress of each sale. Skills, Knowledge And Expertise You will: Demonstrate focus and commitment to work duties. Display a professional and assertive approach. Have excellent organisational skills. Be self-motivated with a high level of enthusiasm and commitment. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to operate flexibly and as part of a team. Experience of working as a paralegal is essential, working within a similar environment is desirable. Disclosure will be required in the event that a position is offered.
