from client coordinator About our Client Our client is a Final year Zoology student who is studying her degree at the University of Reading. She has a diagnosis of Athetoid Cerebral Palsy and is a full-time wheelchair user. Her many hobbies include eating out and Cinema visits. The client leads a very active social life by meeting up with friends and family. With a joyful and delightful persona, as well as a good sense of humour, our client enjoys going out to social events, such as parties, pubs and nights out. As written by her... “I am a very social person and I take every opportunity to go out and have fun. I can get socially anxious however, so will need some gentle encouragement when meeting new people. Saying this, I like to go to the pub, theatre, cinema, to eat out and to see friends. I like looking my best, so hair and makeup is important to me. I am also interested in nature and animals, and thus, will always take the opportunity to watch a David Attenborough documentary. I have done two years of a Zoology degree at the University of Reading, and completed my industrial placement year in Cardiff. I am going back to Reading for my final year of study. As I need someone on call 24/7, it is split up into two 12-hour shifts. During the Day Shift, I will be studying different modules for my degree, as well as writing my dissertation. During the Night Shift, I intend to make use of the University’s very own night club, societies and quiz nights. I will be living in university halls, so all buildings are walkable. This will mean we will only use the car when going shopping, going to appointments, or travelling home (to my mums in Surrey) so a driver is preferable for the Day Shift. I have a pet bearded dragon called Dumbles, so you will have to feed her and the crickets veg (every day), feed her the live crickets (every day) and just getting her out to have a cuddle!” About the Job This is a fantastic opportunity to truly make a positive difference to somebody else’s life by assisting our client to achieve her goals and aspirations. Therefore, this job offers the prospect of meaning and job satisfaction. You will provide our client's academic support as well as health and social care. This is also a ‘flat mate’ type of role which goes far beyond simply care work and includes all the fun things you'd expect a university student to be doing, like getting out and about to see friends, going to parties, the cinema, going on holiday and much more! As well as this, there will be some housekeeping required as well as managing medications and our client’s care routine. Care experience is not required as full training in our client's particular requirements will be provided. You will need: To be physically fit, calm, patient and caring Good organisational skills and the ability to work on your own initiative To have a good sense of humour A mature and responsible attitude Good communication skills To be fluent in English To be clean and tidy in both your appearance and ways To be a non-smoker (preferable but not essential) A full clean UK driving licence - you need to be a confident Motorway driver as you will be required to drive the client’s adapted vehicle. If you would like to apply for this position, please describe your interests in your covering letter. AskJules
