Live Media Encoding Site Reliability Engineer

with a track record of delivering outstanding encoding support for media productions. You would be responsible for the technical operation and management of live HW/SW media encoding infrastructure present in event-site mobile data centers, flypacks, and operations centers. This go-to technician would identify future production trends that would ensure the media encoding systems always exceed the meticulous quality standards and technical performance benchmarks required of Apple production. Description: Come join a team of technical and creative partners working on a wide variety of projects for Apple. In support of these efforts, you will exercise your previous hardware and software engineering expertise for initial system design, performance benchmarking, deployment, on-site user operation, and post-operational support of successful media encoding systems used in content production. You will work closely with media encode and processing software development teams to bring media encode and compute into a hardened and operational production hardware service. As such, you will be leading the full-uptime performance of the media encode stack during live events. As a primary technical resource for each event, you will find yourself actively involved with the technical care & operation of 24/7 uptime media processing and encoding infrastructure in highly dynamic and time-critical production environments. You will be encouraged to solve complex technical challenges in real time, while working closely with production staff to clearly communicate issues and offer solutions on the fly. You will also serve as a domain guide and a savvy, hands-on technician in your field, keeping up on the latest and greatest in compute technology to engineer improvements to current workflow, bring up of R&D and test systems, as well as work with a wide variety of internal and external engineering teams and technology vendors to drive innovation in next-generation media production capabilities.
