Key Responsibilities:

Respiratory Diagnostic Testing:

Perform a range of diagnostic tests, including spirometry, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), blood gas analysis, and respiratory sleep studies. Ensure tests are carried out according to protocols and are of the highest quality to support clinical decision-making. Patient Assessment:

Conduct initial assessments of patients' respiratory health by gathering relevant medical history and information prior to carrying out diagnostic tests. Explain procedures to patients and address any concerns or questions they may have. Interpretation of Results:

Record and interpret test results accurately. Provide preliminary analysis to clinical teams and assist in the development of patient care plans based on test outcomes. Identify abnormal findings and communicate them promptly to senior colleagues. Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration:

Work closely with respiratory consultants, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for patients with respiratory conditions. Attend multidisciplinary meetings as required. Patient Education and Support:

Provide advice and support to patients regarding the tests they are undergoing, explaining procedures, the importance of compliance, and post-test instructions. Educate patients on managing chronic respiratory conditions, such as asthma or COPD, and discuss lifestyle changes to improve respiratory health. Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records and test results in compliance with hospital policies, ensuring all documentation is completed promptly and correctly. Quality Control and Safety:

Ensure all equipment is calibrated and maintained according to manufacturer guidelines and safety standards. Adhere to infection control and health and safety regulations to protect both patients and staff. Service Improvement:

Participate in quality assurance activities, audits, and evaluations to ensure the continuous improvement of respiratory diagnostic services. Identify areas for development and contribute to service reviews.
