Locum Band 7 Clinical Psychologist - Tier 4 CAMHS Service

• Location: Haywards Heath, East Sussex • Temporary Locum • Negotiable hourly rate around £45-£50+ per hour • Duration: 3 months with potential for extension

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to join a Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team on a locum basis in Haywards Heath, East Sussex. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic multidisciplinary team, providing assessment and therapeutic interventions to young people presenting with severe and complex mental health conditions.

As a Band 7 Clinical Psychologist, you will be responsible for conducting psychological assessments, providing therapeutic interventions, and supporting the overall treatment plans of service users. You will work closely with other professionals including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists to ensure comprehensive care for children and adolescents in a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities • Conduct psychological assessments of children and young people presenting with complex mental health issues. • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including individual and group therapy. • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans. • Contribute to case formulations and offer expert psychological advice to the team. • Offer supervision and support to junior psychological staff, assistants, and trainees. • Provide training and consultation to other professionals within the service. • Maintain high standards of record keeping and documentation in accordance with service and professional standards. • Support the development and implementation of service improvements. • Ensure adherence to ethical standards, policies, and procedures in all aspects of your work.

Person Specification

Essential • Doctoral level qualification in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent). • HCPC registration as a Clinical Psychologist. • Experience of working in CAMHS, preferably within a Tier 4 inpatient setting. • Ability to provide evidence-based psychological assessments and interventions. • Experience in working with complex cases and managing risk. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. • Ability to supervise and support junior staff and trainees. • Ability to work under pressure and manage a caseload effectively.

Desirable • Experience with a variety of therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, family therapy). • Knowledge and experience of working with young people with eating disorders, self-harm, and trauma. • Experience in service development or research
