Applications are invited for the position of a full-time Locum Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon to work in the established Breast, Endocrine, Skin and Sarcoma Unit at University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) NHS Foundation Trust, the product of a recent merger between Poole, the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals. The appointee will be required to deliver a comprehensive specialist breast surgical service across both hospital sites. Main duties of the job

This is a locum full-time post which has become vacant due to retirement and attracts 10 Programmed Activities per week. The successful candidate will work within a team of 7 dual specialty surgeons. UHD is the designated Cancer Centre for Dorset and hosts the Dorset Breast Screening Service. The breast unit provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic breast services and treats over 700 new breast cancers per year. The Breast Unit is recognised for its contribution to national and international clinical trials and is supported by a team of dedicated breast research nurses. The well-established multidisciplinary team includes Consultant Clinical and Medical Oncologists, dedicated specialist radiology (including nuclear medicine), histopathology, and specialist CNS services. Delivery of the diagnostic and surgical breast service is supported by a team of 4 advanced nurse practitioners and a Specialty Doctor. Job responsibilities

The Post is based at Poole Hospital with a few sessions on the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site. This is a full-time post attracting 10 PAs. It will contain 3 breast clinics plus some fixed and some flexible operating lists, as well as attendance at the Breast MDT and appropriate administrative time. The post will have appropriate secretarial support and office space within the department. There is no on-call commitment. Person Specification

Qualifications

Full GMC registration FRCS or equivalent MD/MS or equivalent Member of relevant Specialist Society Experience

Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCST in Breast Surgery at Specialist Registrar level Ability to offer expert clinical opinion within all aspects of Breast Disease & Management Validated training logbook of index breast procedures Ability to demonstrate competence in index breast interventions Oncoplastic fellowship Appropriate specialist skills to undertake breast reconstructive surgery Experience in performing reduction/therapeutic mammoplasty Familiarity with recruitment into national breast clinical trials Experience in breast ultrasound Disclosure and Barring Service Check
