Job overview Applications are invited for a full-time (1.0 WTE) 6-month fixed term Locum Consultant Radiologist. The candidate should be able to report acute general cross sectional imaging including MRI and CT. Additional subspecialist interests would be welcomed. Any ability to support Urology / Lung cancer MDT would be viewed favourably. Main duties of the job Applicants should possess the FRCR or equivalent and be fully registered with the GMC. The applicants must hold their CCT in Radiology. Any candidate who wishes to be considered for part-time working is welcome to apply. The successful candidate will join a team of 22 consultant radiologists providing a comprehensive imaging service at Kingston Hospital. We have a dynamic radiology department fully equipped with multi slice CT, MRI, interventional suite, nuclear medicine and fluoroscopy. A cancer centre opened 12 years ago in conjunction with The Royal Marsden Hospital with further diagnostic facilities facilitating one stop clinics and oncology support. Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is based about 12 miles from the centre of London with good transport links into the capital and is based in a beautiful and historic part of the country. It lies very close to Richmond Park and is close to Hampton Court Palace and Kempton Park. The hospital supports around 350,000 people in the surrounding area from the boroughs of Kingston, Richmond, Roehampton, Putney, Merton and East Elmbridge. The Trust achieved NHS Foundation Trust status in May 2013, and has been given an overall rating of “Outstanding” following the Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection which took place in August 2018. Working for our organisation We have approximately 520 beds and directly employ around 2,700 staff, with another 300 staff employed by contractors but working on behalf of the Trust. We are located on a single site in Kingston upon Thames, but run a number of outpatient clinics in sites across our catchment area including Raynes Park Health Centre, Surbiton Centre for Health, Queen Mary's Roehampton and Teddington Memorial Hospital. Detailed job description and main responsibilities The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the general work of the department, which includes the provision of a duty radiology service between 9-5. A more detailed job plan would be discussed prior to appointment depending on the candidates subspecialist interests. The appointee would be expected to cover for colleagues around study and sick leave and a degree of flexibility within the job plan is expected. CCT and on GMC’s Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of the interview or have confirmed eligibility for Specialist Registration. Appropriate higher degree (e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent). Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) or Surgeons (MRCS). Clinical Experience Current wide range of cross-sectional experience (CT, MRI, US), particularly oncology imaging. MDT experience. Additional subspecialty interest e.g. Paeds, gynae, MSK. Management Skills Able to communicate at a strategic and operational level. Attended management training course. Knowledge of finance / budgets. Training, Audit and Research Demonstrable commitment and ability to teach and train undergraduates and junior doctors. Experience of clinical audit. Relevant research articles in peer-reviewed journals. Completed ‘Train the Trainers’ course. Personal Qualities Demonstrate leadership skills within a multidisciplinary team. Ability to motivate staff, to facilitate appropriate changes in clinical practice and to work as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enthusiasm and approachability. Commitment to continuing professional development and clinical governance.
