Whittington Health NHS Trust

is recruiting for a 6 month fixed term locum consultant post in critical care medicine to join the team of 7 critical care consultants from April 2025. The post is a 1 in 6 rota, plus a session of work with the CCOT, and is a part time post attracting in total 8.5 PAs. Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a license to practice. Applicants ideally should have entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within six months of the interview date), CESR or European Community Rights, or be in the process of applying. Candidates who are unable, for personal reasons, to work full-time are eligible to apply and, if successful, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis, in consultation with consultant colleagues. The unit is well staffed medically with a full complement of junior trainees from emergency medicine, anaesthesia and IMT, 2 foundation year doctors, and a middle grade rota with 2 posts from the critical care training program and 1 from acute medicine. Duties of the post

Please see the job description attached for a sample timetable. This is a 6 week rolling rota for critical care, plus a weekly session working with CCOT. SPA work should also be scheduled into the non ITU weeks and includes M and M, clinical governance meetings, datix meetings, etc alongside others. The consultant is off site at night for critical care on calls. The 6 PAs for ITU work includes payment for starting work at 0800 on the day of being on call, and being on site for 12 hours. The 6 PAs also includes payment for unpredictable emergency work such as phone discussions and return to site when required, and is also subject to an on call availability supplement in category A (5%). Qualifications

Full GMC Registration Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT in ICM (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) Higher qualification in critical care medicine FFICM or European Diploma in ICM Special interest

Experience and training in intensive care medicine to the levels set for CCT (or equivalent training) by FICM Experience of ICU Outreach working Knowledge and clinical experience of treatment escalation planning. Teaching

Ability to appraise evidence and to undertake relevant research An interest in research as evidenced by publications relevant to critical care Skills

Knowledge and skills in various techniques and procedures appropriate for intensive care and the critically ill patient Management ability
