Consultant The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a locum Emergency Consultant to support the cross-site surgical team. The successful candidates will support the Emergency Surgery team at West Middlesex & Chelsea and Westminster hospitals. Main duties of the job

Provide consultant care in the elective and emergency general surgery service across a range of procedures. To undertake to operate on and turn over patients at a speed comparable with peers to allow optimum usage of the operating theatres. To participate in outpatient clinics. Deliver consultant review of all non-elective admissions review within 12 hours of admission. Promote early and safe discharge, including the use of community providers to reduce length of stay. Develop new innovative communication pathways with GPs and patients. Interact with commissioners when appropriate to streamline pathways and facilitate patients’ access for treatment. Clinical Experience

Evidence of broad based training experience in General Surgery equivalent to that required for a UK CCST. Knowledge and Skills

Solid understanding of the Clinical Governance Agenda. IT proficiency including, email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Evidence of effective audit leading to change. Evidence of significant contribution to the Clinical Governance Agenda particularly CNST preparation. Coaching skills. Research

Demonstrates an understanding of the principles and applications of clinical research. Peer reviewed publications. Evidence of recent or ongoing research. Evidence of experience in supervising juniors doing research. Important
