We are looking for a consultant colleague with a sub-specialist interest in Deformity & Orthognathic surgery, covering patient streams from both Telford & Shrewsbury. Responsibilities include: Undertaking general OMFS work as part of service provision requirements. Conducting Outpatient Clinics at both Hospitals with a main inpatient base and dedicated Head and Neck ward at Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. Performing both daycase and inpatient operations, primarily at the Royal Princess Hospital at Telford, utilizing the main theatre complex and newly built elective hub for daycase procedures. Participating in a 1 in 5 general on-call rota with a separate oncology flap cover rota. Exhibiting excellent team-working skills and a professional attitude to work well in a multi-professional team. A formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and their Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, on behalf of the Medical Director within 3 months of starting in post. A full-time job plan is based on a 10 PA working week and includes: 7.5 Programmed Activities (PAs) of Direct Clinical Care - includes clinical activity, clinically related activity and predictable and unpredictable emergency work. 2.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs) - includes CPD, audit, teaching and research. The allocation of PAs is reviewed and may be subject to adjustment when a further diary exercise is undertaken or if the service demands a review of the team job plan. Any applicant who is unable to work full-time for personal reasons will be considered for the post, and modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust. Qualifications
MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical qualification. Possession of both a medical degree and Dental degree from UK recognised institutions. Current ATLS provider certificate. ATLS trainer status. MFDS or equivalent. Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, or equivalent. Entry Criteria
Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC). Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery or equivalent. 5 years of training within the NHS required for the specialty with evidence of validated surgical logbooks. Successful completion of an SAC approved 5-year minimum training programme in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, or within 6 months of completion. Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
