The Consultant will be expected to work with the Clinical Director in Paediatrics and other Consultants to promote the highest standards in paediatric medical care. They will be expected to:
Be enthusiastic to develop the service and promote improved multi-disciplinary and multi-agency services for children. Promote the team approach to children’s care, having due regard for the linking of acute, community, social, education and voluntary services. Partake in Consultant appraisal and revalidation. Prior agreement to undertake any Supporting Professional Agreement activities elsewhere must be obtained from the Clinical Director. Be the lead Local Paediatric Consultant for Endocrinology. We have regular student placements from Southampton and Physicians Associates from the University of Surrey. The post-holder will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
This post consists of a mixture of outpatient and inpatient activity with the latter organised to improve consultant presence in the hospital outside office hours. Outpatient work will depend on the special interest of the successful applicant.
You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a license to practice and be on the Specialist Register, or be within 6 months of attaining your CCT or equivalent at the interview stage.
