What's the Opportunity?

A new position within an established and reputable logistics company with an excellent presence across the UK and globally. They are seeking a Logistics Controller in their Transport department to take ownership of the transport function. Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will have the opportunity to influence operations by leveraging your transport and logistics expertise. The role will focus on growing, developing, and maintaining new transport haulage business opportunities while continually improving service offerings to customers. You'll need excellent negotiation skills to exceed both existing and new customer expectations.

What you'll be doing as a Logistics Controller in Transport:

Receiving and processing customer orders for outbound deliveries. Organising the most efficient, cost-effective transport solution to deliver goods on time. Booking in customer deliveries. Obtaining quotes from haulage customers, negotiating rates, and organising bookings. Ensuring you have PODs for all deliveries and processing partner invoices. Onboarding new haulage partners and obtaining relevant documentation. Working closely with the customs team to support import and export customs papers. Conducting investigations into delivery issues, updating systems, and responding to customers with root cause analysis and future preventative actions. Providing effective communication to team members, customers, and management. Developing SOPs for haulage operations where required. Ensuring all reports, including internal and customer-specific ones, are completed within deadlines, including customer KPIs. Any other tasks as directed by the manager.

Your experience and attributes as a Transport Logistics Controller will include:

Excellent and demonstrable transport and haulage operational knowledge. Good negotiation skills; you will be an excellent communicator able to build solid relationships. Confidence to overcome and challenge internal and external issues. Excellent IT skills. A positive mindset and a can-do attitude are paramount.
