Purpose

Managing the Logistics & Despatch teams across the company on a day-to-day basis. Working to ensure loading/despatching processes are running smoothly/effectively to support business and customer needs. Ensure the efficient running of the Transport & Despatch warehouses.

Key Tasks

  • Responsible for Group despatch administration and lorry loading processes
  • Manage driving teams in the loading, delivery and care of all Harrod Furniture Products
  • Knowledge of Horticultural transport loading and the day-to-day tasks re4quired.
  • Liaise and Book hotels for driving teams cost effectively.
  • Monitor and improve loading/despatch to ensure it is efficient and productive
  • Ensure loading/despatch processes are robust and followed
  • Manage the team to ensure the smooth loading/despatch onto company vehicles and external carriers
  • Work with other team leaders/managers to ensure resources are maximised
  • Communicate business objectives to the team to support business demands
  • Manage the team on a day-to-day basis and resolve staff issues as required
  • Co-ordinate and complete employee performance reviews for the team
  • Co-ordinate/arrange adequate cover for departmental absences
  • Coordinate and participate in target setting through meetings/sessions
  • Continually strive to improve processes and working practices with the team
  • Ensure agreed targets and deadlines are communicated, implemented, measured and reviewed
  • Route planning and monitoring the cost implications.
  • Produce Monthly reporting statistics for the Group Operations Director
  • Assist with sales order allocation and acknowledgement
  • Manage the process for lorry and Van route planning for company vehicles
  • Manage installations team planning in consultation with Equipment Estimator
  • Manage Performance issues as Required and Liaise with HR where disciplinary procedures are required
  • Work closely with the Warehouse Manager to effectively despatch stock in a timely fashion
  • Manage and co-ordinate your team’s PDR’s.
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of department Health & Safety Issues
  • Ensuring adherence to Harrod UK Health & Safety policy & procedures at all times

Person Spec & Skills

  • Able to communicate clearly at all levels
  • Has excellent time management skills
  • Experience of route planning
  • Management of lorry drivers and current legislation
  • Valid HGV license and CPC desirable but not essential
  • Professional and passionate
  • Able to managing specific projects in line with company targets
  • Good understanding of internal and external customer needs
  • Desire to exceed targets
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Shows interest and has good knowledge of Harrod UK products
  • Awareness, understanding and responsibility for department Health & Safety issues, ensuring adherence to Harrod UK Ltd Health & Safety policy at all times
  • Seeks to be challenged and stretched
  • Understanding of basic budgetary controls
  • Self-directed and self-motivated
  • Team player with excellent facilitation skills
