This role is for a pharmacy technician who would be willing to enrol and complete an educational pathway delivered by the CPPE (Centre for Postgraduate Pharmacy Education) to become a qualified professional. Your experience will have been gained within primary care or another healthcare setting.
The Pharmacy Technician will join an established team of existing pharmacy technicians to support the Lowestoft Primary Care Network to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and efficient systems for repeat prescribing, medicines optimisation, reducing medicines waste, and maximising patient outcomes. You would initially be based in and employed by High Street Surgery on behalf of the PCN.
This is a relatively new role, and whilst an outline of the typical responsibilities is summarised below, it is important to consider the shared nature of the role across more traditional practice boundaries, differing from the in-house practice pharmacy technician model which is already in place in some of our practices.
The successful applicant will be expected to build and develop relationships across the surgeries and with wider primary care partners in community and mental health. This is in line with the NHS future direction for GP practices to be part of a larger Primary Care Home serving a population within an Integrated Care System.

To take a proactive approach to the safe handling of prescriptions, including assessment of risk and making recommendations for improvement.
To respond to medication queries from patients and staff in a professional manner referring to the appropriate GP in accordance with LPCN protocols.
