Lymphoedema Therapist (Band 5 or Band 6 salary dependent on experience) We are pleased to offer a development opportunity to an experienced Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Podiatrist or Nurse to join our dynamic and supportive lymphoedema team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro for a 6-month secondment or fixed-term contract, enabling the post holder to develop specialist skills in lymphoedema assessment and management. The post is based in an acute hospital setting delivering outpatient care Mon-Fri. The Lymphoedema service is progressive, forward-thinking and committed to ongoing training, support and development of all team members. The Lymphoedema service provides specialist assessment and treatment to children and adults with both Primary and Secondary Lymphoedema and Lipoedema across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The service is therapist-led, based in the Therapy department and is part of a wider multi-disciplinary team. Post-graduate experience and evidence of post-graduate development is required, as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to work well, autonomously and as part of a team. Clinical experience in Lymphoedema care is advantageous; however, additional training will be provided in order to fulfil the requirements of the post. Main duties of the job

The Lymphoedema Therapist will work as part of the wider therapy outpatients team, using specialist skills to assess patients with Primary and Secondary lower limb lymphoedema and Lipoedema, formulate and implement treatment plans and enable patients to self-manage their chronic condition. You will have your own caseload of patients to support and follow up ensuring continuity of care. Management will include compression garments, skincare and prevention of infection, exercise and weight management advice and self-lymphatic drainage. You will also work with the team to provide intensive lymphoedema treatment, including lymphoedema bandaging, manual lymphatic drainage, photobiomodulation and kinesiology taping. Training and support will be given to develop the required skills within this specialty. To be an employee of the NHS you need to successfully complete the following:
