About this Position We are seeking an experienced

Contract Machine Tool Fitter

to join our client, a leader in providing bespoke test and assembly machines to the manufacturing and automotive industries. This ongoing contract role will involve supporting the Manufacturing department in building special-purpose assembly and test machinery. Job Responsibilities Collaborating closely with engineering to address design changes and resolve issues. Assembling machines to a high standard within project budgets and timelines. Providing support to and reporting progress to supervisors. Assisting with machine power-up and supporting software commissioning engineers. Experience Required Technical Expertise : Strong understanding of engineering adhesives, sealants, lubricants, standard locking, and dowelling systems. Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics. Extensive experience in mechanical fitting, particularly in machine tool assembly.

Additional Skills : Background in the machine tool build process, including using tools and equipment to assemble machinery from drawings and schematics. Ability to identify and resolve faults or issues during assembly. Good knowledge of machining processes, including turning, drilling, reaming, surface grinding, welding, gas cutting, and fabrication. Skilled in the use of lifting equipment such as slings, types of slinging, and general crane safety. Familiarity with pipe and pipe fittings (parallel and tapered) and ability to mount and pipe hydraulic and pneumatic circuit elements in both hard and soft pipe.

Industry Advantage : Experience in the automotive industry is highly desirable.
