Maintenance Engineer Role and Responsibilities:

To work as a key member of the engineering team.

Support production through engineering.

Work with shop floor management to prioritize repairs, essential and planned maintenance/service of all machines.

Liaise with the engineering manager on the performance of machines, planned repairs and maintenance, and new plant and machinery installations.

Work with the quality department on machine performance and quality issues.

Actively promote the reduction of scrap and the efficient running of the Conversion and Extrusion sections.

Be proactive in the development of new processes and procedures to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality in all aspects of the manufacture and supply of products.

Support the embedding of continuous improvement within all areas of the business.

Help ensure the business remains proactive in the development of new methods and products, remaining competitive and attractive to every customer. External Responsibilities:

Maintain close working relationships and effective communication levels with all machinery and spare parts suppliers to maximize support levels. Internal Operational Responsibilities:

Accurately record breakdowns and downtimes on maintenance logs.

Work with the engineering manager regarding machine problems, maintenance requirements, and prioritize machine repairs and maintenance.

Ensure Health & Safety procedures are adhered to in line with legal requirements and company policy at all times.

Where required, work with production management to produce operator guides and instructions for each machine.

Coordinate overtime working and holiday cover within the engineering team.

Advise and train relevant personnel in new processes and procedures.

Ensure 5S and housekeeping are maintained.

Ensure all machinery is maintained to the highest possible standards and can operate effectively, efficiently, and safely. Job Brief:

Ensure that all machinery is repaired and maintained in a safe manner in line with health and safety legal requirements.

Plan, prepare, and install all new plant and machinery.

Maintain adequate spares and consumable materials.

Where appropriate, recommend modifications to machinery to improve machine life or reduce maintenance. Internal Responsibilities:

Effectively handle all aspects of your job role in conjunction with the internal systems as laid down in the ISO, BRC, IOP, and Hygiene processes and procedures.

Ensure that all machines are maintained and repaired safely and meet legal requirements and customer expectations.

Day to day liaison with shift managers on machine issues.

Notify the engineering manager and shift manager promptly of any machine and maintenance issues or breakdowns.

Endeavor to reduce scrap and rejects where possible and support continuous improvement.

Take personal responsibility for the safety of yourself and your work colleagues in accordance with company Health and Safety policy.

Undertake any ad hoc projects as required by management.

Complete all internal hygiene maintenance as required.

Help maintain the company premises.

Maintain machinery maintenance records.

Maintain all drawings and suppliers' manuals in an orderly fashion.

Ensure all spares are stored tidily.

Ensure the workshop is kept tidy and orderly. Skills/Attributes:

An ability to work well under pressure.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent technical skills and knowledge.

Problem-solving skills.

Teamworking skills. Desirables:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.

18th Edition electrical installations.

Proven work experience as a maintenance engineer.

Advanced knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.

Ability to read system schematics.

Advanced troubleshooting skills.

Understanding of safety and equipment procedures.

Good communication and training skills. Shift Pattern:

Permanent days or permanent nights with the shift being Monday to Friday either 7 am to 4.30 pm or 7 pm to 4.30 am. Salary:
