UKCEH is looking for an experienced Building Services Manager (Estates) to join our team of talented individuals, contributing to scientific discovery and generating the data, insights and solutions that researchers, businesses, and governments need to solve complex environmental challenges. As our Building Services Manager, you’ll lead a skilled team of professionals to ensure our facilities run seamlessly, efficiently, and effectively. Your main responsibilities will include: Supervise and develop a team of building services staff, ensuring high performance and professional growth. Oversee routine and preventive maintenance activities to ensure all facilities are in optimal condition. Assist in planning and executing building services projects, including renovations, upgrades, and new installations. Ensure all building services activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. Manage resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to achieve operational goals. Assist in preparing and managing budgets for building services operations, ensuring cost-effective solutions. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to address building services needs and issues. Support and implement sustainable practices within building services to minimize environmental impact. Coordinate and oversee the work of external contractors, ensuring they meet quality standards, comply with safety regulations, and deliver services on time and within budget. Review and analyze servicing reports to identify trends, address issues, and ensure continuous improvement in building services. Assist in managing contracts with external service providers to ensure compliance with terms and conditions. For the role of Building Services Manager, we’re looking for somebody who has: Degree in engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field or relevant experience. Experience in building services management, with experience in a supervisory role. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Facilities Management Certification) are desirable. Solid understanding of building services, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems. Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience in budget preparation and financial management. Proven experience in managing contractors to ensure high-quality service delivery. Ability to review and interpret servicing reports to drive improvements. Experience in managing contracts and coordinating with external contractors.
