The Ullswater Inn is now looking to recruit a Maintenance Assistant.

Duties include:

  • Daily Boiler checks
  • Daily electrical checks (distribution boards, visual emergency lights etc)
  • Interior /external light bulbs
  • Fire alarm control panels
  • Inspect and clean out external grease trap
  • Visual checks on fire extinguishers
  • Fire doors and closers throughout
  • Roofs, gutters, drains, handrails, steps, walkways for slips trips &fall hazards
  • External housekeeping - tables, chairs, ashtrays, empty and remove broken glass
  • Gardens - cutting grass, pruning, keeping borders tidy etc.
  • Planned maintenance - interior and external painting, grouting, silicone sealing
  • Other unplanned repairs
  • Contractor liaison and engagement

Key Skills and Experience

  • Basic plumbing skills (repairing and replacing faulty taps, showers, waste pipes, traps and leaking pipework)
  • Basic electrical skills (replacing faulty sockets, switches, lighting equipment, tuning TVs, replacing light bulbs, fault finding)
  • Basic Joinery (replacing faulty handles, hinges, door locks, door closers, ensuring doors and windows open and close smoothly)
  • Basic Painting (Ensure all walls and ceilings and woodwork throughout are kept freshly painted)
  • Compliance (ladder checks, emergency light tests, fire alarm tests)
  • Weekly Utility Readings (Gas, electric, water)
  • Flexible, can-do approach
