Crown Oil, a well-established fuels and lubricants distribution company, seeks a skilled management accountant to join our expanding team. In this role, you will report directly to the Financial Controller and have the unique opportunity to utilise your expertise in financial analysis to support informed financial decisions across various businesses within our group. We are ideally looking for a candidate to start in January 2025, although this date can be negotiated for the right individual. Key responsibilities

Responsible for producing monthly management accounts, from trial balance all the way to creating detailed Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets, complete with insightful analytical notes Managing various components of the monthly accounting process, such as fixed asset schedules, depreciation journals, accruals and prepayment calculations, wage reconciliations, and other balance sheet reconciliations Reconciliation, analysis, and interpretation of large data sets, including sales, COS, stock, GP margin analysis, debtors, and creditors Analysing large data sets within Excel, identifying and understanding reconciliation issues Analyse the final accounts, compare them with previous months/years, and identify any inconsistencies or anomalies before they are sent for review Complete quarterly VAT returns, ensuring accuracy in calculations and timely submissions Work closely with our finance teams, including sales ledger, purchase ledger, and credit control, ensuring smooth communication and teamwork Liaise with the sales operational team on finance-related queries Answer external auditor queries during the year-end audit process Skills and experience required

Demonstrated ability to excel in a deadline-driven environment Exceptional attention to detail, with proficiency in both numeracy and literacy Fully qualified, either by experience (Qualified by Experience) or through CIMA/ACCA certification, with a minimum of two years in a similar role Strong competence in double-entry accounting, with the capability to apply this knowledge effectively Advanced expertise in Excel and adeptness in managing large data sets This position is full-time (37.5 hours per week) and is office-based, offering 25 days of annual leave.
