Reporting to the Associate Director, Creative Services and User Experience, the Manager, Creative Services is responsible for supervising and managing the visual and narrative overarching aspects of campaigns and managing the team involved in design, production, copywriting, videography, and execution of marketing materials and activities. Duties & Responsibilities
Operational Planning and Production As part of the leadership team, contributes to the overall leadership of Marketing and Communications and participates in the development of strategic initiatives and operational plans. Manages the production of traditional and digital assets for the College. Provides artistic and creative vision, establishes and implements College policy and standards for all events, print, and digital marketing. Ensures that marketing and communications projects are completed while using methods congruent with College and government policies. Ensures that all College materials are produced in a timely, efficient, and effective manner within the assigned budget. Provides recommendations regarding workflow policies, procedures, and standards for the Marketing and Communications area. Manages production of video and copywriting to pull brand narrative together. Monitors the visual identity and brand image expression for all College events and materials. Ensures that marketing services are consistent and of the highest professional quality as identified by industry, College policy, inclusive design practices, and brand standards. Advises the College community regarding the College policy and standards related to brand in traditional and digital mediums. Ensures that technology and tools used to produce College materials are efficient and congruent with industry standards. Production of Marketing and Communications Projects
Project manages, supervises, and assigns staff in producing College marketing and communications materials. Directs, schedules, and assigns duties to staff, and reviews work for accuracy and completeness. Efficiently allocates team members and resources to complete all projects, including determining the need for asks in a strategic manner. Ensures continuous client service during team member absences. Evaluates the progress of communication and marketing projects that are generated by the Department and course corrects as necessary. Promotes a harmonious working environment that encourages innovation and creativity. Puts effective processes in place to support the creative team. Adheres to accessible design practices and trains direct reports in this area. Human Resources Leadership
Responsible for the selection, assignment, evaluation, training, and development, and performance management of direct reports within the scope defined by College policy and the Collective Agreements. Fosters equitable practices and inclusive culture that attracts and retains key talents. Delegates appropriate authority to team members and provides clear expectations, information, supervision, and support to enable them to fulfill their duties and responsibilities. Develops a high-performing team, ensuring high standard of service delivery, competence, and team members are provided with developmental opportunities to improve their skills and achieve their career potential. Provides clear direction on goals and priorities; and ensures optimal deployment of resources to achieve goals. Represents management in the grievance process and consults with People Services regarding collective agreement interpretation and application. Performs other related duties/projects, as required by the Executive Director. Qualifications
Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or Design; or a related discipline. Five (5) years recent related experience in an integrated communications and marketing environment with a preference towards experience managing a creative team. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Skills and Abilities Demonstrated advanced knowledge of branding, marketing, communications, strategies, techniques, and concepts. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of marketing communications project management tools, including creative briefs, work backs, and marketing plans. Demonstrated ability to use applicable software applications, such as MS Office Suite and knowledge of design software, such as InDesign and Photoshop. Demonstrated advanced writing, proofreading, and editing skills for different types of media with a strong attention to detail for design, content, and brand, and accuracy. Experience conceptualizing visual identity systems and providing strategic art direction. Exhibit effective presentation and public speaking skills. Demonstrated ability to oversee the production of quality and creative marketing communications solutions to meet the College’s strategic goals and client’s needs on time and within budget. Exhibit effective project management, strategic planning, budgeting, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to innovate, think critically, problem-solve, take initiative, exercise tact and diplomacy. Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and meet multiple deadlines within a fast-paced work environment. Demonstrated ability to optimize the most cost-effective utilization of resources across competing projects, providing accurate budget estimates and monitoring the budget. Demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate, and lead employees. Exhibit ability to maintain confidentiality. Salary Range
$92,139 – $122,852– $135,137 annualized (Pay Grid 11) normal starting salary placement is between $92,139 and $122,852. Compensation beyond the control/mid-point requires approval by the Public Sector Employer’s Council Secretariat (PSEC). Employment Group
