Job Overview: We are looking for an experienced and results-driven

Managing Director

to lead Borderless Payroll’s growth and operations and transition the company from startup to scale up to a more dominant position in the UK market and abroad. This pivotal role involves overseeing cross-functional teams, ensuring high levels of compliance, and driving the business toward ambitious growth targets. The ideal candidate should ideally have a background in managing companies within the payroll, recruitment or financial services sector.

The Managing Director will be fully accountable for the performance of the company, leading with a strategic mindset and focusing on operational efficiency and expansion. You will report directly to the board and lead senior-level management in various departments.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy Development:

Shape and execute the company’s long-term strategy with a focus on the UK’s growth as well as expanding our international footprint and revenue generation.

Provide leadership across all departments, fostering strong collaboration and accountability.

Ensure alignment of operations and initiatives with business goals, working closely with the board.

Operational Oversight & Growth:

Oversee operations across all locations, ensuring seamless execution and consistent quality in services.

Develop and implement strategies for expanding into new geographical markets and sectors, and increasing revenue in our existing locations , with quarterly reviews of performance.

Drive business development initiatives and work closely with marketing and sales teams to expand the client base.

Compliance & Risk Management:

Ensure total compliance with UK employment law, financial regulations and company policies. While only basic knowledge of UK law is needed, you will oversee communication between local legal teams and the company's central legal department.

Manage risk and governance, ensuring the business maintains the highest standards of operational compliance.

Team Leadership & Development:

Lead, mentor, and develop the senior management team, ensuring they have clear goals and responsibilities.

Build a strong team culture that prioritises work ethic, collaboration, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Conduct regular performance reviews and ensure that the right talent is in place to meet the company’s goals.

Client & Stakeholder Management:

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and external stakeholders.

Act as the primary representative of the company when engaging with investors, regulatory bodies, and key business partners.

Qualifications and Experience Overview:

Proven experience as a Managing Director, CEO, or senior executive in the payroll, recruitment, HR, or financial services sector.

Strong understanding of payroll management.

Basic understanding of UK employment law is sufficient, as dedicated legal teams handle jurisdiction-specific compliance.

Demonstrated track record of growing businesses, meeting revenue targets, and expanding operations internationally.

Strong leadership skills with a focus on team building, mentorship, and performance management.

Financial acumen with experience in managing budgets and financial forecasting.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
