About the company

My client is a multi-disciplined well-known main contractor with a superb reputation within Civil Engineering, Rail, and Construction. They are well-established and have been trading for over 60 years. Their national presence has allowed them to open and maintain 7 national offices, covering locations such as London, Kent, Surrey, Liverpool, and Southampton (this role will be based in Norfolk) and they are turning over £300M.

This position has come about due to the growing growth of the company and they have recently won a new Framework within their rail division. The projects that they get involved in range in value from £200,000 up to £24M and they see them through from inception to completion. Their Pre-Construction team has a tremendous amount of experience of over 40 years within Rail and Civil Engineering which helps the more junior staff to learn and train correctly.

About the role

Due to some internal promotions within the company, my client is now looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their very experienced and senior team. The section of the contract you will be working on will be valued at £17M a year working on major rail and highways projects. The overall duration of this contract will be at least another 5 years; it's guaranteed long-term work and stability for the right candidate.

You will be working underneath some brilliant people. The head of the contract, with whom you will have a good working relationship, has a brilliant reputation and is well-respected within the rail industry. He has 20 years' experience working within the water industry for well-respected contractors. As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a vital role in delivering the Long Stratton Bypass, a 3.9km single carriageway project that will improve journeys, enhance accessibility, and create opportunities in the region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of Senior Quantity Surveyors, managing costs across multiple projects, ensuring each is profitable for the Company. You will be involved with the reviewing, evaluation, and delivery of payments as well as developing client relationships.

The role is a permanent position. No freelancers will be considered.

Benefits and rewards

The successful individual will be rewarded with a very good and competitive salary ranging from £70,000-£80,000 (negotiable depending on experience) + a car allowance and health care. On top of this, you will be working for a very well-respected rail contractor, a contractor that will look after you, and a contractor that will ensure you're taught correctly.

Requirements

You will be required to have experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or a Managing Quantity Surveyor for a sub-contractor (ideally a tier 1 or tier 2 company).

You must have shown strong stability throughout your career working for tier 1 companies with at least 3 years + of experience working in the sector.
