Are you a Managing Quantity Surveyor looking for an exciting opportunity in the Reading area? My client, one of the largest and most successful privately owned Tier 1 main contractors in the UK, is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead their commercial team within their Construction division. Renowned for their commitment to client satisfaction and excellence, they deliver high-value commercial projects ranging from £20M to £100M.

The Role

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you’ll take a leadership role in driving the financial success of multiple projects, overseeing a team of Quantity Surveyors, and ensuring the commercial health of the business unit. This role demands a strategic thinker who excels in cost management, risk mitigation, and stakeholder engagement. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, clients, and project teams to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic leadership to the commercial team, overseeing multiple projects and ensuring financial success. Develop and manage project budgets, cost plans, and valuations. Lead procurement strategies, negotiating contracts with subcontractors and suppliers. Monitor and manage project risks, implementing mitigation strategies where required. Prepare and present financial reports to senior leadership, ensuring transparency and accuracy. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and industry standards. Mentor and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.

Requirements:

Experience:

Proven track record of 7+ years in quantity surveying, including experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor overseeing multiple projects. Technical Expertise:

Extensive knowledge of cost management, procurement, contract administration, and commercial strategy. Leadership Skills:

Strong ability to manage, mentor, and inspire a team of Quantity Surveyors. Communication:

Excellent skills in managing client and stakeholder relationships. Attention to Detail:

High level of accuracy in financial reporting and risk management. Qualifications:

Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
