Job Description At KLA, we design, develop, and manufacture high-tech capital equipment for the global semiconductor industry. Based at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Newport, South Wales, this role presents the opportunity to work with innovative technology and learn precision automated manufacturing processes! This is an exciting role for a Manufacturing Design Engineer focused on the design and development of improvements to product and processes to support manufacturing growth, new products, and continuous improvement projects! Within this team, the Manufacturing Design Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring manufacturing and its support teams are planning and completing work to the correct specifications, in the most efficient way possible. In this role, you will be responsible for test/calibration, setup/debug/maintenance, test failure analysis, and product yield improvements. It is expected that the Manufacturing Design Engineer improves yield by collecting test data, analyzing it, and putting corrective actions in place to prevent yield loss. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Maintain tooling and equipment by arranging calibration, safety check, and regular control. Release, update, and control of working instructions. Assist and sign off test technician’s work. Analysis of customer returns, define root cause and preventive actions. Introduce new variant tests to production line. Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including assembly and test procedures. Lead multiple CIP projects, working multi-functionally with our Operations and Engineering Teams. Investigate and resolve technical challenges to support manufacturing processes. Perform troubleshooting on CPU assembly, PCBA by using oscilloscope and electronic handheld devices. Search for alternatives for end-of-life parts on existing products. Minimum Qualifications Degree qualified in Electronics Engineering (or a related subject) or hold an equivalent level of experience. Experience in controlling electronics product tests. Sourcing tooling, equipment, and parts for manufacturing test systems. Knowledge of software debugging and test system commissioning. Experience in yield data analysis and reports. Demonstrated success leading quality improvement in production line. Has had exposure to quality control systems. Experience with reviewing and providing inputs to schematic and circuit layout. Hands-on experience with PCBA or electronic sub-assembly. Troubleshooting down to component level. Is a self-starter and able to self-manage and prioritize their workload. What will we offer you?
