What to Expect Our Manufacturing Engineering team is growing to support our business plan. New models mean more opportunity to develop and create processes and standardization around how we perfect each and every model we build. This role is crucial to the success of our Manufacturing operations, as you will be responsible for the processes and complexities of how we build new models – taking them from initial concept designs through prototype stages into series production. In this role, you will have plenty of variety – everyone in the team will have a wide exposure to the business, including interfacing with concept design and engineering teams across multiple projects. You will witness and influence projects from beginning to end. What You'll Do The creation and development of the following deliverables for each new model introduction: Vehicle assembly concept Starting in the virtual environment and transitioning to physical validation & delivery Process sequencing, documentation, and product traceability methodologies To be developed in line with existing Series products & future strategies brand evolution PFMEA To support and drive the implementation of best practices to improve RFT delivery Hours per Car generation & reporting Ownership and maintenance of the Hours Per Car (HPC) data for new model introductions, ensuring plant efficiency and output targets can be achieved. Working with Engineering and Operations teams to identify and resolve production bottlenecks Line balancing Including running time & motion studies across the plant Facility layout & utilization Collaborating with Engineering & Operations teams in leading the design of new/amendments to existing layouts and material flow to ensure new models align with the overall plan and vision for the facility Support and influence the following cross-functional business activities to achieve the Project deliverables such as: Concept / Design Reviews Engineering release delivery DFMEA What You'll Bring A degree in mechanical / automotive engineering or similar or equivalent experience in a similar role Ideally, you will have experience with: Planning and execution of new vehicle programs Complex vehicle systems Vehicle assembly processes Trim and final processes End of line vehicle processing / finishing Specification and procurement of assembly equipment Identifying resolutions for product-related issues, ensuring all quality targets are achieved Implementation of safe working practices What We'll Do for You Display a positive attitude and practice strong work ethics that reflect the mission, philosophy, and goals of McLaren. As one of our engineers, you will naturally have an understanding and appreciation for low volume, high value performance vehicle production and brand requirements. We work in a fast-paced environment so the ability to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of thought and decisive authority is crucial. Change is a natural part of our business and candidates must be agile to plans and procedures changing. You will need to travel to off-site development facilities, within the UK and throughout Europe; therefore, a flexible approach to travel is required. You will have the determination to drive forward the business to ‘Best in Class’ performance standards in line with brand expectations and be a lateral thinker able to think outside of the box to make structured and objective decisions. Other traits of a successful McLaren employee will include excellent communication skills both written and verbal, to all levels of the business.
