Location: Crewe Contract: Initial Contract Until January 2026 Outside IR35 37 hours per week Hybrid - 3 days onsite (Tuesday/Thursday) with flexibility on the 3rd day

Overview of the Role:

We are seeking a Manufacturing Feasibility Engineer to join a dynamic team responsible for evaluating manufacturing feasibility in line with business processes. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally to present and resolve manufacturing feasibility issues, influencing product style and design to meet manufacturing targets and functional deliverables. The role is pivotal in supporting the resolution of manufacturing feasibility concerns, ensuring product quality throughout the design and production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Analysis of Final Assembly Feasibility on Future Programmes: Review style and design to identify and resolve manufacturing feasibility concerns, supporting manufacturing functional deliverables such as Design for Manufacture (DFM) best practices, assembly time targets, and production quality targets. Conduct virtual and physical studies to analyse part design, identify issues, and provide recommendations for problem resolution. Analyse dimensional management outputs and develop assembly strategies to meet product quality targets (including the delivery of Gap & Rad plans). Support Virtual Build reviews to validate process hard points and sequences. Participate in Design and Manufacturing Feasibility reviews. Assist in complex problem investigation and resolution. Manage KPIs to support status reporting at key project milestones. Contribute to defining key BIW (Body in White) measurements for collation into the Function Mass Catalogue (FMK), engaging with other Group suppliers to influence and agree on changes.

Support Concern Resolution Through Business Process: Define and document concerns/issues clearly via business processes.

Support for Control Build Activities: Validate assembly feasibility using reference properties. Conduct analysis on Controlled Build Vehicles. Act as a knowledge holder for part design, manufacture, and assembly within vehicle zones/modules.

Identification and Development of Best Practice Principles: Benchmark design, manufacturing, and assembly methods. Develop knowledge through technical literature and industry-related research.

Ensure the Development/Application of New Technology & Techniques: Identify and contribute to the introduction of new technologies and techniques in support of deliverables.

Essential Skills and Experience: Proven experience in the automotive industry within a manufacturing or engineering environment. Experience in associated industries may also be considered. Strong working knowledge of component design, manufacture, and assembly processes/techniques. In-depth understanding of Design for Assembly principles, including lean manufacturing techniques. Logical and structured approach to problem identification and resolution. Experience with CATIA V5 and Virtual Build tools. Familiarity with measurement techniques and dimensional management analysis.
