We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual for an entry-level Manufacturing Technician role. In this position, you will be instrumental in assembling complex components and ensuring the functionality and quality of our electro-mechanical systems. As we transition our initial devices from R&D through validation to large-scale manufacturing, you will be joining a dynamic and growing team that is pivotal to our success and future growth. Due to the nature of this phase of our development, we are only able to offer this role on a fixed-term basis of 6 months. About you If you are interested in starting or progressing your career in medical or consumer device manufacturing, have an eye for detail, and work well with intricate assemblies, then this could be a great opportunity. You will get hands-on with component manufacture, assembly, and even some preparation of chemical formulations. Perhaps you have experience in another industry where you think you can apply your skills to this role. With manufacturing processes involving rapid prototyping methods, thermoformed, 3D printed, and injection moulded plastic parts, assembled using the latest laser, heat, and ultrasonic welding processes, there’s a chance to get involved with some exciting tech. Don't worry if you have never used this kit; we can train you! We love inquisitive and collaborative people; we empower our teams to get the job done. About us We are part of the Sapphiros group, a pioneering research and development company with sites in Cambridge and Hove. Our groundbreaking work in printed flexible electronics and point-of-need diagnostics has led us to an unprecedented project in medical device production. We are all about putting the best people and technologies together to lead the charge in manufacturing diagnostic tests at extremely high volume and low cost. We look for the best collaborative solutions and novel manufacturing techniques to optimise efficiency and process capability. Roles and Responsibilities: Assemble diagnostic devices comprising several manufacturing technologies, integrating various components such as motors, sensors, printed circuit boards, and mechanical structures. Prepare chemical formulations to dispense onto materials for use in devices using semi-automated dispensing systems. Perform inspections to verify the quality of assembled components, ensuring compliance with product specifications. Conduct functional tests on assembled systems to ensure proper operation and adherence to quality standards. Perform QC inspections using manual and semi-automated measuring equipment ensuring the smooth flow of products in and out of production. Actively seek to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, enhancing quality, safety, and efficiency. Preferred Experience and Skills: Experience in a similar build process either during education or work experience. Even hobbies such as model making, crafts, engineering, or robotics would be useful! Why Choose us?

The people that join us are the people that will shape the company as we scale and evolve. We are a team where everyone contributes and directly impacts the shape of the organisation. It’s an environment that values innovation, teamwork, and personal growth. We provide competitive compensation, ongoing development opportunities, and a very dynamic workplace where your skills and ideas will thrive. We do not discriminate; we are interested in you, your skills, experience, and nothing more. Please contact us if you require accommodations or adjustments to complete the application or interview process. We look forward to speaking with you.
