Workshop Technician
My client, a leading manufacturing company operating within the aerospace / defence industry, is looking to recruit a Mechanical Technician on a full-time, permanent basis.
Candidates must have hands-on technical mechanical experience and be able to use workshop tools.
The candidate, working as part of a small team, should have a flexible attitude towards work duties which will include moulding and forming mechanical components using toggle presses, fly presses, pillar drills, etc.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings is a requirement of the position, along with computer literacy. The assembly work is mainly of a light nature, involving small plastic and metal components.
Main duties:
Hands-on mechanical processing of components.
Hands-on assembly of mechanical & electromechanical components.
Operating small injection mould machines, fly presses, and toggle presses to bend and cut raw materials, such as sheet metal.
Working to strict standards and time parameters with a can-do attitude.
Adhering to Health and Safety guidelines within the department.
Quality checking using measuring equipment.
Experience:
Experience in using metalwork hand tools is essential.
Able to read and understand technical drawings is a requirement.
Good verbal and communication skills.
Very good attention to detail.
Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work under their own initiative; full training from experienced operators will be provided.
Flexible attitude to work is essential, as duties are extremely varied.
Education:
Preferably a certificate (HNC) or BTEC in Mechanical Engineering; however, for the right candidate with very relevant experience, this is not necessarily required.
Working hours:
Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:15 and Fridays 07:30 to 13:30, covering a total of 39 hours per week.
Salary:
Dependent on experience.
