Maritime Bridge Watchkeeper Simulator Trainer
Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster. As a Bridge simulator controller, you will join a team that supports training in the Royal Navy’s Navigation Training Unit at HMS Collingwood. This team works side by side with Royal Naval (RN) instructors and provides a key contribution to the professional development of RN and foreign naval personnel through career and other courses, in preparation for operational duties in the Fleet. This role involves a 2-week shift pattern: Week 1: Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm Week 2: Monday to Thursday 3.30pm to 11pm This averages as 32.75 hours per week for pay. What you will be doing: Working with Instructors to load simulations onto the systems/simulators, controlling the simulator and providing appropriate inputs and responses during a training scenario. Managing the simulation exercises (malfunctions, machinery, man overboard, etc.). Preparing, reviewing, and updating training scenarios and support material. What we’re looking for: Suitable candidates will hold a STCW II/1 qualification or an RN equivalent (bridge watchkeeping Cert.). Previous experience in the Royal/Merchant Navy. Project Selborne is a wide scale, 12-year transformation of Royal Navy Training. The contract worth GBP 1 billion was awarded in December 2020 to a consortium led by Capita to deliver and modernise training for the RN.
