We’re currently seeking a Market Assistant Buyer to support our Purchasing Manager. This is your opportunity to be a key player in enhancing Foodari’s Market function and making a real impact on our operations. If you're excited about being part of a dynamic, passionate team and helping shape the future of our brand, we'd love to hear from you! This is a hands-on role, with an element of office duties. Nightly traveling to London in a company van to purchase products and negotiate prices. These orders are then delivered to us at the market. Stock will need to be QC checked and broken down, some to bring back to our warehouse and the rest left ready for our delivery drivers to collect. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Market Team in organizing stock allocation and loading/unloading the van. Assist the Purchasing Manager and Quality Control team in evaluating suppliers and products. Participate in the selection of fresh produce items for purchase. Maintain and nurture relationships with existing suppliers. Support transport dispatch by helping drivers find the stock they need to add to their orders. Book in purchase receipts onto our system. Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards. Opportunities to Grow: As you gain experience, take on the responsibility of sourcing and evaluating new suppliers and products. In the long term, support the negotiation of pricing and terms with suppliers, gaining valuable skills in supplier management. Actively contribute to team meetings, sharing insights on market trends and offering suggestions for purchasing improvements. Qualifications: Strong communication and negotiation skills. Understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management. Familiarity with fresh produce categories and seasonal trends. Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Strong attention to detail. Full UK category B driving licence, preferably with experience of driving a 3.5-ton van (must be over 25 for insurance purposes).
