Discovery Educational Trust - Marketing and Communications Manager

Essex Scale 9-10 depending on experience - £39,332-£47,437 including Fringe Allowance

We are recruiting our first Marketing and Communications Manager for Discovery Educational Trust. This is a brand new role and presents a fantastic opportunity to shape and develop the Trust's marketing strategy with future growth in mind. We are looking for a creative individual with enthusiasm to tackle both the core operational and strategic elements of this role and to build our marketing and communications offering from the ground up. A background in the education sector may be helpful, but this is not essential and we welcome applications from experienced marketing professionals from other sectors.

The post will be integral to our Central Trust Team, reporting directly into our CEO. You will be working closely with the Senior Leadership Teams in our five schools and in collaboration with colleagues in our central HR, Finance, Operations, IT and Governance teams.

The vacancy is advertised as full time with the opportunity to do some work remotely; however, we welcome conversations on part time options for the right candidate. Applicants must be flexible in terms of being able to travel between the three primary schools and two secondary schools within our Trust, when required. Our schools are Brentwood and Southend based and you will have the option to choose your primary base as either St Martins School (Brentwood) or Chase High School (Southend on Sea).

We aim to schedule interviews for week commencing 20 January, but reserve the right to close the advert early if we receive sufficient applications for the post.

Information about the School Discovery Educational Trust, formed in 2014, is a successful and established multi-academy trust based in South Essex, comprising just under 4000 students and 500 staff, across 5 schools.

Our schools are:

Chase High School (Westcliff-on-Sea)

St. Martin's School (Brentwood)

Hogarth Primary School (Brentwood)

Kelvedon Hatch Community Primary School (Brentwood)

Larchwood Primary School (Brentwood)

We aim for each of our schools to become the school of choice within the community, offering a broad and exciting range of extracurricular activities to enhance the opportunities within their formal curriculum.

Our vision is that strong and effective leadership places our children and young people at the heart of everything we do. We value relationships, which are open and honest, underpinned by kindness, trustworthiness and compassion.

We offer ongoing training and professional development for all staff in a supportive and collaborative environment, along with the following employee benefits:

Pension scheme - also automatically includes Life Assurance

Generous Referral Bonus for employees who refer quality candidates to join Discovery Educational Trust

Two-week October half term

Employee savings and discounts

Employee Assistance Programme – free confidential wellbeing support for employees and dependants

Mental Health First Aiders – we have qualified MHFA England trainers within the Trust and continue to add to our pool of trained MHFAs

Bike2Work scheme

Ongoing training and professional development in a supportive and collaborative environment

The Discovery Educational Trust is committed to safeguarding our students against radicalisation and extremism and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

In compliance with safer recruitment procedures and guidelines, all applications must be made on an application form; CVs will not be accepted. This appointment will be subject to pre-employment checks including an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and satisfactory references.
