This role is a permanent full-time position, working a 35 hour week, flexibly between Monday - Friday 07:00 - 19:00. The purpose of this job is to perform characterisation and analysis of pharmaceutical raw materials and drug substances, with respect to their material properties (and how this may affect processing) and produce accurate results within an acceptable timeframe. Responsibilities

Perform routine and non-routine analysis using traditional and modern analytical techniques, as required to support investigational studies undertaking a range of physical and analytical testing. Manage receipt, storage and disposal of development samples. Enter materials into Development Store and dispense from store as required. Support introduction of new equipment into functional area. Contribute to assigned project team by providing feedback on experimental protocols, data summaries and initial interpretation of data according to assigned timelines. Identify any opportunities for improvement of quality and service and work with the wider team to implement continuous improvement. Ability to quickly learn new processes. Takes initiative to become local expert in areas where there is a gap in knowledge and shares that knowledge appropriately as required. Ability to form strong working relationships with colleagues. Seeks new ideas to make improvements within own area of control. Good team player, organised, accurate, have strong documentation skills. Passionate about quality and customer service. Good communication skills both internally and externally. Ability to deliver an effective presentation on technical or non-technical content when required. Minimum Requirements

A Degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry is required. A fundamental knowledge of material science testing in respect of pharmaceutical actives and excipients and a knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing is essential. Experience operating and troubleshooting analytical equipment related to Material Science, and Drug Product manufacture would be advantageous. Experience of Particle size analysis, morphology, (P)XRD and BET for surface area testing would be highly advantageous. Proficient in using electronic media, including MS Office and experience in use of electronic laboratory notebooks would be of advantage. Strong practical and analytical skills in a laboratory setting is required. Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot is essential. Collaborative, networking and interpersonal skills. Good verbal and written communication skills is essential. Able to document work clearly and concisely, as well as understand and describe data / findings importance to others. Ability to work safely and comply with key quality systems to ensure data integrity. Good organisational and planning skills, and an ability to deliver to agreed time and quality. Company Overview
